Why I Have A Love/Hate Relationship With Hostmonster

I really need to get this off my chest… Let me start by saying that I love Hostmonster as a web hosting provider. Their service is amazing and their prices rock too! I have hosted with them for over three years and love it!!
About a week ago, I was purchasing a new domain that I wanted to host with them. I noticed that they are now charging for their “privacy” feature. I have always selected their privacy feature since I really don’t like people pulling up a whois on my domain and seeing all of my contact information. When I emailed them telling them how displeased I was that they were charging for this service now and how I wanted it for free like the good old times, I was shut down by the most rude customer service rep saying that there is no way they can do that and the upper management decided to start charging to stay competitive in the industry.
Well, I thought that was ridiculous! I have roughly a few hundred domains that I have purchased and hosted with them over the years and I replied saying that I was going to pull all my domains and host them elsewhere unless they gave me free privacy for all of my domains and all of my future domains (of course I was bluffing, I love their hosting service and will never leave). Again, this lame girl replied and was very rude about it. I figured the battle was lost and gave up after my second attempt. Hostmonster won the battle, at least I thought they did…
A few days ago, I was introduced to a domain registration service called namecheap. You can purchase domains and get free privacy and then host them with Hostmonster. YES! The best of both worlds! Amazing hosting, while getting my domains and free privacy from a different company! This was a dream come true!
So, I am sorry if I was a little dramatic with my story. The point is, Hostmonster rocks! But if you want your domains to be private so no one can get your contact information, but them through namecheap. When we design websites for customers who are new to the internet business world, we will 100% of the time have them take this route.
Did any of you get upset about this recent change in Hostmonsters policy?
